From 3 to 8 May 2026, a large group from ForMovFluid attended the European Geosciences Union (EGU) conference, which was held in Vienna, Austria. The EGU General Assembly 2026 is a large gathering, this year it was attended by 20,027 attendees from 125 countries while a further 2,470 attendees joined online.

Most of our MSCA-DN doctoral researchers were present at the conference, and presented their work at the poster session. They were happy to show them off to an interested audience and their posters received great feedback from attendees.

All doctoral projects presented at EGU fall under ForMovFluid’s aims to increase the current knowledge of the movement of fluids in the Earth’s upper crust and how they interact with rocks in different environments. However, the individual projects vary widely within that general theme.
Find out more about the different research projects at our dedicated PhD Projects page.

Besides presenting their projects at the poster sessions, a team from ForMovFluid hosted a dedicated session on “Fluid Flow and Rock Interaction Across Scales: From Grains to Plates”.
This session was well attended and very enthusiastically received, and the conveners did a great job!

It was a busy week at EGU 2026 and a great experience for everyone, made all the better by being there as part of our ForMovFluid team!
